It was November 1982. I had turned 7 years old several weeks before. I vividly remember driving to Bowman's Market in the car with my mother, and reading the words "T
he Empire Strkes Back" on the marquee at the Theatre. I went insane, or as close to insane as a small child can get. My mother wondered what could possibly be so exciting, based on the noise I was making in the back seat. "Luke Skywalker is at the Theatre!" I yelled. "Neat!", she said wryly (as my Star Wars mania had hit a fever pitch with the several new Star Wars action figures I had received on my birthday), we'll ask your Dad if he'll take us to see Luke and Vader again". Well, take us he did. Empire was rereleased for a two-week only engagement, and we made the best of it. We saw it every night it was at the Theatre in those 2 weeks. After dinner, my Dad would say, "who wants to go see
Empire Strikes Back again?" My mother rolled her eyes, as we had seen it 10 times already, but my sister and I shouted "we do!". So we saw it a total of 12 times. It's the most times I saw a movie at the Theatre. Only time I've come close was in 2001, with
Moulin Rouge!, which I saw 9 times, but that's a story for another post.
